The Centre has defined a research agenda prioritizing four Urban Sustainability Challenges (USC), with each of them being addressed through an interdisciplinary research project.
USC 1 | Environmental and human health
To promote environmental and human health under climate change in watershed-wise cities through science-informed policymaking and regulations.
USC 2 | Resilient cities
To achieve sustainable interactions with energy and water in the built environment towards the construction of resilient cities under the threat of climate change.
USC 3 | Urban Equity
To identify socio-economic, cultural, environmental dynamics and political factors that hinder urban equity in contemporary urban processes, at multiple scales.
USC 4 | Sustainable urban mobility
To understand how cities may have a spatial distribution in their activities and a transport system that could enable fair and sustainable mobility patterns, minimising the negative impacts on the environment.
