CRITICAL RESOURCES

This line of research aims to generate, disseminate, and transfer knowledge related to the critical resources that are essential for sustainable urban development, with a focus on water and environmental quality issues.

The work focuses on understanding and characterising the availability, variability, and vulnerability of these resources, promoting their intelligent use and management, and identifying and evaluating interactions with socio-environmental components that affect the sustainability of urban development (for example, interactions with public health aspects).

In particular, the line of research aims to integrate the spatial scales involved in the use of these resources, from residential to watershed, understanding the city as a strongly linked entity to its biogeochemical context.

The research line also seeks to transition from basic research to research focused on the needs of stakeholders, where the relationship with other disciplines allows for better addressing topics related to planning and public policy. In this way, the research agenda of Critical Resources seeks to generate cutting-edge scientific and technological knowledge, with a transdisciplinarity component in line with the current needs of the population.
