CEDEUS is a research centre that seeks to contribute to the debate on the main urban sustainability challenges that Chilean cities face in the twenty-first century. Its principal goal is to understand urban dynamics, instruments and decision-making processes for developing sustained and equitable improvements in the quality of life in urban areas, based on a recognition of the social demands in, and the biophysical boundaries of Chilean cities.

The Centre understands SUD as a process whereby communities flourish harmoniously in both present and future generations.
Its mission is to generate interdisciplinary scientific knowledge for raising awareness, and strengthening policy and practice in Chilean sustainable urban development.
To be the main hub for national and international research, training and innovation for identifying and responding to Chilean sustainable urban development challenges.
