Adjunct associate professor at the Department of Transport and Logistics Engineering of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and at the Centre of Excellence in BRT+ (Bus Rapid Transit). She is the director of the Laboratory for Social Change (cambiarnos.cl) and the founder of Ciudad Viva (www.ciudadviva.cl). In 2022, she received the UN World Bicycle Day Award for her work.
She is a writer and editor, and holds a master’s degree in Planning Science, and a PhD in Urban Planning and Community Development from the University of Toronto.
RESEARCH AREAS
A recognized international expert on civil society development, participation, and the democratization of urban-territorial management, as well as sustainable transport, particularly active transport. She specializes in governance for transitions towards greater sustainability with equity; active and public transport, with expertise in inclusive cycling planning and civil society formation.
In this regard, she has worked on innovations towards empowered citizen participation in collaboration with local and regional authorities and the management of social change processes within urban planning, with an emphasis on sustainable transport and cities. In recent years, she has focused on walk-bike-public transport intermodality, gender, and road safety issues.
