Gilles Flamant is a researcher at the Centre for Sustainable Urban Development. He served as an independent consultant on Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Construction in Chile. He worked for 15 years at the Scientific and Technical Centre for Construction in Belgium (the most prestigious centre for sustainable construction in the country), as head of the laboratory and deputy head of the Energy and Buildings Department. He was a member of the European expert group on “Thermal Conductivity Measurements of Materials.” Previously, he served for 4 years as a researcher in charge of the “Architecture et Climat” team at the “Université Catholique de Louvain”, Belgium.

His civil mechanical engineering degree is from Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium and has a diploma in Industrial Management from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium.

RESEARCH AREAS

His specializations are in energy efficiency and sustainability of buildings (thermal comfort, heat and moisture transfer, thermal insulation techniques, photometry of materials, experimental protocols, etc.) He has worked as a Belgian representative in several European groups on Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations. Multiple research projects have been under his leadership.
